Six and half years in the Merchant Navy as a Marine Engineer 1972-1979. Ports of Call included seven trips to te far east including Australasia, 2 trips to the United States, 5 months on a Super Tanker.
After the Merchant Navy, worked at Toyota, in South Africa for 18 months as a process technician, before moving back to Cape Town.
In Cape Town, worked for Chemserve Lubricants, providing technical back up and sales to customers.
June 1984, left to travel overseas for a year, travelling to Canada, England and Italy until June 1985. From 1985 until 1989, worked at a variety of jobs interspresed wit various trips overseas. Returned to Italy in 1989.
In 1989, returned to a ski resort in the Dolomite mountains in Arabba, Italy to live and work.
Returned to China and taught English in a school there. Was featured on a Chinese Stamp at the school where he taught.
